Amazon-Branded TVs Are Coming Soon

Available as soon as next month, maybe

Your next TV could be an Amazon model, since the tech giant reportedly is coming out with its own brand of TVs later this year.

As initially reported by Insider Thursday, Amazon-branded TVs will be ready as soon as next month, just in time for the start of the holiday shopping season. While the TVs will have Amazon’s name on them, they will still be designed and manufactured by third parties, most notably TCL.

Alexa, of course, will be an included feature in the TVs, so you’ll be able to ask the voice assistant to turn up the volume, change the channel, or search for a movie to watch. Engadget notes that it’s unclear if the Amazon TVs will run the company’s Fire TV software, but one can hope they will so the compatibility of Amazon devices is seamless.

The only other known spec about the TVs is that they will be available in a size range of 55 to 75 inches, but there’s no indication of how much they will cost or if the TVs will be smart, with web-access or interactive features.

Insider also notes that Amazon is working on a TV designed in-house by the company, itself, but no further information exists. Lifewire reached out to Amazon to find out more about the upcoming TV models, and will update this story when more information is available.

Amazon would join other companies like Samsung, LG, Sony, and others in the TV category. The tech giant sells these competitors’ TVs on its site, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Amazon also makes tech devices like smart speakers, smart doorbells (through its partner company, Ring), e-readers, tablets, and more.
