What do you need:

  • orange felt
  • light green felt
  • dark green felt
  • the scissors
  • thread
  • needle
  • felt glue
  • pencil
  • model (you can get it at the end of the tutorial)

Instructions

Print the model. Cut out the shapes and trace them onto the felt – carrot shape on orange felt, leaf patterns on green – smaller on dark green and larger on light green. You can also cut small circles as decorations (totally optional) from scraps of felt of different colors.

Place the smaller of the carrot-shaped markers and place it over the larger one – try to line up the shapes as much as possible. If you are working with younger children, you can add a little felt glue around the edges to hold the shapes in place while your little ones do their sewing.

Sew the pieces together. You can use a blanket stitch (you can see it in this felt seahorse tutorial) or with a basic running stitch (just go over and under with the yarn).

Sew all the way around the edges, but leave the top open. At the end, tie a knot.

Add some felt glue to the bottom of the larger sheet and glue it to the back of the carrot pocket.

Do the same with the smaller one by gluing it to the front of the carrot pocket.

Sew them together.

Completed!

If you want a little more fantasy, stick a few felt dots on the carrot.
