Dead by Daylight Announces First LGBTQ+ Character

The Next Volume 11: Devotional Content for Dead in broad daylight will shed light on the first LGBTQ+ character from the popular multiplayer game, Survivor David King. A fan favorite Dead in broad daylight Survivor David King joined the roster in 2017 during Chapter V: Lullaby for the Dark. Backstory developer Behavior Interactive has built for David, so far, casts the character as a spoiled rich kid whose promising rugby career ended due to his assault on a referee.

Published interactive behavior Dead in broad daylight on PC in 2016, then brought the asymmetrical multiplayer experience to PS4 and Xbox One the following year. As the horror title continued to grow in popularity, even more platforms were thrown into the mix. Now even Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS users can take on the role of killer or survivor in Dead in broad daylight. But for all of its inventive content releases and crossover chapters, many JDB players felt like something had long been missing from the game’s otherwise robust offerings.

Volume 11: Devotion will be put online for Dead in broad daylight on Thursday, April 28, Behavior Interactive announced this in a statement. This new archival-based content promises to offer more insight into joint serial killers The Twins and David King’s struggles with his homosexuality. As the game’s first LGBTQ+ character, David’s turn in Devotion will have players exploring memories in a pub where a discussion of romance leads to the revelation that he once had a boyfriend. Creative Director Dave Richard had the following to say about the upcoming reveal: “Representing diversity in entertainment, so it was important for us to take the time and surround ourselves with experts in order to do it right.” Check out the reveal trailer for Volume 11: Devotion in the following video:

This new Tome arrives only a few months later Dead in broad daylight Volume 10 reintroduced players to The Pig / Amanda Young du Seen film franchise. Volume 11 looks set to prove even more transformative, however, opening the door to yet-undiscovered LGBTQ+ representation in the popular horror game. Hopefully Behavior Interactive has handled David King’s story with the utmost care.

Dead in broad daylight has enjoyed a few more notable content releases since Volume 10: Saw went live in January. For example, the Sadako Rising chapter, inspired by the ring, launched in March with a new killer and survivor in tow. Shortly after, the development team launched DBD new Rockabilly cosmetic collection for survivors Jane Romero and Yui Kimura and Killer Rin Yamaoka.

Dead in broad daylight is playable on all platforms.
