FIFA 22 best young players list reveals the top 50 career mode wonderkids

The FIFA 22 Best Young Players list is something you need to bookmark before any new career mode saves. (Go ahead. Do it now. You won’t regret it.) Some FIFA 22 wonderkids are obvious if you can afford them, like Paris pair Gigi Donnarumma and Kylian Mbappe. But we’ve also included many hidden gems. The list is divided into five categories: goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, wingers and forwards. Note that the ages and stats in GR’s FIFA 22 Best Young Players Guide are correct as of October 1, 2021.

No surprise to see Gianluigi Donnarumma at the top of the list: he did the same thing in FIFA 21, and that was before winning the Euro 2020 Player of the Tournament award. Yet your club in career mode will never pay the clause £198m release from PSG, nor the Italian’s £96,000 weekly wage. Luckily there are bargains elsewhere on the list: Genk are expecting around £5million for Vandevoordt, while Lanus is demanding a similar fee for Morales – and both are on the market for less than £10,000 off on your weekly payroll. Tempting.

FIFA 22 best young defenders

An incredibly strong mix of full-backs and centre-halves here, of which Sporting CP left-back Nuno Mendes is just missing. The 19-year-old’s overall rating may drop from 78 to 88 – and you can buy him straight away, despite being on loan at Paris St Germain in real life. For our money, the best value for money young defender is another one who falls just short of the top ten: RB Leipzig centre-back Josko Gvardiol. Also 19, he costs just £12million but can go from 75 to 87 in future seasons.

No place on this list for the ultra-talented like Federico Valverde (Real Madrid), Mason Mount (Chelsea), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United) or Nicolo Barella (Inter Milan) – but it’s worth noting that they have odds too potential 89. Another prodigious talent narrowly missing is 18-year-old Jamal Masiala from FC Bayern: he starts the game at 76 but can shoot up to 88 with practice and playing time. You need no serious wonga to sign any of these guys, as Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz is the only one with an asking price below £30m.

FIFA 22 best young wingers

FIFA 22 features so many talented wingers that we’ve given them their own category this year, and again some notable young names are missing: Rodrygo (Real Madrid), Pedro Goncalves (Sporting CP) and Takefusa Kubo (Mallorca, on loan by Real Madrid) all have potential OVRs of 88. Of those in the top 10, Lyon player Cherki offers the most astonishing value: you can pinch him for around £7m and a salary weekly of around £10,000. Get your bid as soon as you start career mode.

Yes, being under 24 still pretty much qualifies Richarlison and Gabriel Jesus as FIFA 22 wonderkids – although there are more affordable and better value names to spend your money on in Career Mode. The two names in the middle are the ones to focus on. Offer £9.5m to Sassaulo and you should be able to sign Raspadori on a weekly salary of £25,000, while Hlozek’s starting salary at Sparta Prague is just £13,000 a week – although the Czech club want £15million for his signing. It’s always a no-brainer, especially since (unlike Raspadori) he can also play LM or RM.
