Final Fantasy Tactics: What Day The 25th Anniversary Actually Is

The infamous GeForce Now leak of 2021 involved a datamine of Nvidia’s streaming service, which included the names of several games that had yet to be announced. Nvidia claimed that some of the names on the list were speculative, but it’s looking increasingly likely that the leak was 100% correct. Square Enix had several games mentioned in the leak, one of which was Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster. There were two other games on the list that were far less likely to be real, which is why fans originally thought the GeForce Now leak was fake, but they have since been announced. Both Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition and Kingdom Hearts 4 were revealed, so the idea of a Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster seems likely. Square Enix has already ported the mainline Final Fantasy titles from the original PlayStation to modern systems, so a Final Fantasy Tactics port could be next. The leak also mentioned that a Tactics Ogre remaster is on the way, which would also be exciting, as it’s a similar title.

The summer games season is almost here and a Final Fantasy Tactics announcement could happen during a future Nintendo Direct or Square Enix showcase. A remastered version of the game could include updated visuals, the extra content from The War of the Lions release, and maybe some QoL features to speed up the gameplay. Final Fantasy Tactics director Yasumi Matsuno has discussed his desire to make a sequel to the game, and if that happens, then a remaster seems like the first logical step, in order to bring fans up to speed with the life of Ramza Beoulve.

The 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy Tactics will take place on June 20, 2022.
