Learn to Caterpillar (Cute Cartoon Style) Tutorial and Printable

Caterpillar drawing for kids

What do you need:

  • our printable directed drawing (take it from the end of the instructions) – it’s perfect for classroom use and completely optional
  • paper
  • black marker or pencil
  • coloring supplies to color your drawing

Follow step by step drawing instructions

Step 1

Start by drawing a circle. It doesn’t have to be a perfect circle, but do your best. This will be the head of the caterpillar you are drawing.

2nd stage

Draw the antennae and facial features. You can keep it simple or make it more detailed.

Step 3

Start drawing the body – draw a “semi-circle” shape – or better, the letter C if your caterpillar is facing another direction than ours.

Step 4

Continue drawing the half circles or the letters C for the body. Draw as many as you want, the more you draw the longer your caterpillar’s body will be.

Step 5

Draw the legs. You will need one pair for each “circle” – head excluded. One line for the leg should be shorter than the other (this will be the leg in the back).

Step 6

Only a few details remain! Draw ellipses or dot the ends of the legs to create adorable little feet. Also draw a small semicircle above the last circle for the body.

Congratulations! You just learned how to draw a caterpillar!
