What do you need:

  • our printable pattern (you can find it at the end of this drawing tutorial) or you can just watch the screen
  • sheet of paper to draw on
  • printer to print the model
  • black marker (or pencil, pencil, …) (hint: most drawings look better if drawn with a marker rather than a pencil, thicker lines will make your project cuter and motivate you more).

Follow these step-by-step frog drawing instructions

Step 1:

We recommend printing out our frog drawing template (scroll to the end of our tutorial to grab it) as it will make drawing easier on the go.

Choose your favorite drawing medium (we love markers) and start drawing.

We’ll start with the head. Start by drawing an oval shape for the head (round is also suitable).

Draw an oval shape for the frog head2nd stage

Draw two smaller circles above the oval shape. The line of the oval shape should “pierce” the circles.

Draw two circles above the ellipse for the eyes

Step 3

Make your frog’s facial features. Draw two black circles for the eyes. The frog will look cooler if the eyes are looking in one direction (left or right) rather than just looking straight at you.

Draw the mouth. Start at the left (or right, whichever feels more natural) and draw a line from side to side, arching it slightly in the middle. Add two nostrils.

Draw the outline of the body by making two curved lines on the left side and the right side. Young children can also draw straight lines – the end result will always be pleasing.

Add facial details and draw the body

Step 4

More arches! Draw the left and right frog leg – the right one as you would start writing the number 2 and a similar shape on the other side.

Also draw the belly, draw the inverted U shape.

Now to finish the legs. Draw the back legs and front legs of the frog.

If you are more skilled you can add the finger details as shown in the picture, while younger and absolute beginners can just draw a straight line (this makes the legs more triangle shaped).

Step 6

Almost done. Draw the line under the frog’s belly and the finishing details (spots on the body).

Final details and you have learned how to draw an easy frog

Congratulations! You have learned how to draw a frog! All that remains is to color your creation.
