Roses are without a doubt one of the most beautiful (and most fragrant) flowers. We wanted this one to be both simple and beautiful, to capture the essence of this flower. This one has a few more steps than our average guides, because we wanted to make them so clear and easy to follow, seeing roses might seem harder (this one isn’t, I promise).

This one was tested by several newbies, and they were all surprised and delighted with how beautiful their roses looked (so we’re really, really happy with how we put together this tutorial).

Drawing made rose

What do you need:

  • our drawing model directed towards the rose (take it back at the end of the tutorial)
  • sheet of paper and printer
  • your favorite marker or pencil
  • coloring supplies if you want to color your picture

Step 1:

Start your rose drawing by drawing an oval shape. It doesn’t have to be perfect, like nothing in nature is. However you draw it, your rose will look great.

Start by drawing an oval

2nd stage

Draw a small spiral inside the oval. The direction of the spiral does not matter, nor the number of turns.

Draw a spiral inside the oval

Step 3

Draw a heart around the spiral – start at the top with the slit of the heart touching the oval shape. Again, don’t worry about the shape of the heart, the left and right sides don’t have to look the same.

The other parts of the heart don’t need to touch the oval shape, but there’s nothing wrong if they do.

Draw a heart around the spiral

Step 4

Draw a line following the shape of the heart – start at the top and make a nice curved shape (like a very loose letter S). Make a pointed shape (V). and bring it to the bottom of the heart.

follow the shape of the heart

Step 5

Make a similar shape at the other end of the heart, this time without the pointed end, draw the line so that it touches the previous shape.

And on the other side

Step 6

Now draw a U-shape (you can make it a bit curved at the top). Can you see your rose’s flower forming?

Step 7

Add some details. Draw a curved line from the tip of the V to the bottom of the flower.

Also add two lines connecting the oval shape to the heart shape – if your “heart shape” doesn’t touch the oval on the sides.Add some details

Step 8

Draw some sepals under the flower.

Sepals

Step 9

Draw the stem and a leaf.

Draw a rod

Step 10

Color your rose drawing.
