How to make an easy origami tulip flower

Start by making an origami tulip flower. Fold the paper in half diagonally to form the triangle (colored side of the paper out).

Fold in half again, just to make the crease in the middle of your triangle and unfold.

Take one corner, we’ll start with the right one, and bend it upwards, not straight towards the center but at a slight angle.

Do the same with the other side.

Your tulip flower is almost done – just a few “pretty” details. Flip your flower over and bend the side corners – this will make your flower shape more defined.

Do it on both sides and you’re done!

If you’re making this origami flower with younger kids, this is where you stop because the stem is a bit further forward.

How to make an easy origami flower stem

Start by folding a larger sheet of green origami paper diagonally into a triangle shape, unfold. We did this step to mark the center of the diagonal.

Fold the corners towards the middle (the middle is indicated by the diagonal crease you made earlier).

Fold the two corners towards the middle. Make neat, clean folds.

Then fold the two new corners you obtained in the previous step towards the middle.

Again, make sure the creases are nice and neat.

This is what your shape should look like now.

See the two new corners? We need to fold these two in the middle again. Nice and easy.

Fold them both and this is the shape you should see.

Almost there! You shouldn’t fold your diamond in half, bringing the top and bottom corners together.

Close it – fold the shape in half (smaller part should be inside)

Finished! All that’s left to do is nudge the inner “peak” a bit and run your fingers over all the creases to make them super crisp.

How to assemble the origami tulip

This part isn’t exactly origami as it’s a few minor cuts, but that’s what’s needed to put these two parts together to create the most wonderful origami flower.Cut a small amount from the bottom of your origami tulip flower. Spread the flower a little (you can do this as simply as pushing your finger from above – so that the hole widens a little.

Push the flower onto the stem. Finished! Your origami tulip is ready to display.

The flower can easily be removed from the stem, if you want a more permanent solution a little glue will do.
