John Krasinski’s Fantastic Four Movie Is Getting Really Likely

As far as fan-casting has gone for the MCU, John Krasinski as Mister Fantastic and his wife, Emily Blunt, as Invisible Woman are two of the most highly-sought choices for the Fantastic Four team. Apart from his physical resemblance to Reed Richards, John Krasinski’s Mister Fantastic fan-casting pre-Doctor Strange 2 has been attributed to his acclaim in both intelligent and action-based roles.
Plus, there’s the notion that if he plays the MCU’s Reed Richards, it seems like a package deal for Emily Blunt to also portray his wife, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman. As such, the husband-wife acting duo has inevitably been bombarded with questions about their interest in joining the MCU as the pair, with Krasinski having previously commented on loving the idea of playing Marvel’s character. Now, with Doctor Strange 2, this fan-casting has become a reality, though not necessarily for the MCU’s version of the character.
Doctor Strange 2’s Illuminati Makes Krasinki’s Fantastic Four Possible

After years of fans begging Marvel to cast John Krasinski as Mister Fantastic, Doctor Strange 2 hired the actor to portray Earth-838’s version of Reed Richards. While Krasinski’s cameo was quick, his inclusion as Mister Fantastic has been one of the most talked-about aspects of Doctor Strange 2, even though his variant was obliterated by the MCU’s Scarlet Witch. Nonetheless, John Krasinski has now officially portrayed Reed Richards in an MCU movie, which suggests he may still be the choice for the confirmed Fantastic Four movies.
Not only would it be great to see Krasinski reprise his role as Reed Richards in the MCU’s Fantastic Four movie, but there’s also the suggestion that he could direct the film as well, especially following the news of Jon Watts’ exit. Krasinski’s dual directing-acting skill was demonstrated with his two A Quiet Place movies, so moving onto the MCU’s Fantastic Four reboot wouldn’t be too difficult of a transition.
While Krasinski’s inclusion in Doctor Strange 2‘s cast makes his Fantastic Four movie much more likely, just because he played Earth-838’s Mr. Fantastic doesn’t mean he’s automatically cast as the character in the MCU’s Earth-616 timeline. Spider-Man: No Way Home’s multiverse story revealed that different variants can be played by different people, with the MCU’s Tom Holland, the Sam Raimi trilogy’s Tobey Maguire, and The Amazing Spider-Man‘s Andrew Garfield portraying Peter Parker from different universes.
Of course, the rest of the actors who portrayed the Illuminati’s variants in Doctor Strange 2 had already played versions of their characters before in the MCU or in other universes, with Patrick Stewart returning as Charles Xavier, Hayley Atwell again playing live-action Peggy Carter after voicing her in What If…?, Lashana Lynch still playing Maria Rambeau, Chiwetel Ejiofor again portraying Karl Mordo, and Anson Mount reprising his role as Black Bolt after Marvel’s Inhumans series.
Stephen Strange hadn’t heard of the Fantastic Four when he encountered Reed Richards, suggesting that the MCU’s version of the character has yet to be overloaded by cosmic rays. However, this doesn’t necessarily indicate that the MCU’s Richards would need to be younger to show his origin story, as Robert Downey Jr. was the same age as John Krasinski is now when he made his debut as Iron Man in 2008. John Krasinski may not be confirmed to play Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic in the MCU’s Fantastic Four movie, but the positive reception of his short appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness means that all signs point toward the actor reprising the role.
