Landon Can Make Legacies’ Series Finale The Perfect TVD Ending

Hope and the rest of the Super Squad are in for the fight of their lives against Ken (Luke Mitchell) and the rest of the gods. Some likely won’t make it out alive. They need all the help they can get, and with Landon now having the power to bring people back from the dead, it would be silly for Legacies to squander the opportunity of bringing back old characters for one final, grand battle. It’s not certain that Landon has the power to bring back people from Valhalla, or just from Limbo. But it’s not as though Legacies hasn’t played fast and loose with The Vampire Diaries mythology throughout its run. That could easily be a twist written into the finale.

Legacies has faced past criticism for seeming to forget it’s part of The Vampire Diaries universe. While characters from TVD and The Originals were sometimes mentioned, few, if any, ever showed up. Legacies season 4 made an attempt to correct that, bringing back a number of characters from both shows in episode 15, “Everything That Can Be Lost May Also Be Found.” The Mikaelson family reunion in Legacies season 4, episode 15 has been the highest-rated episode of the season so far. It proves something that the spinoff has sometimes forgotten: it’s the interweaving of characters that have made the shows so beloved. The Vampire Diaries universe has always been about families, whether related by blood or not, who stand by one another through thick and thin. Bringing together multiple characters from all three shows for Legacies‘ series finale would not only be thrilling, but the perfect way to say goodbye to a beloved TV universe.

The final two episodes of Legacies air Thursday, June 9 and Thursday, June 16 on the CW.
