Will Poulter opens up about intense training for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3

Will Poulter is in full production on James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. The film stars him as Adam Warlock, who has been described by Marvel as “the perfect being” thanks to his superhuman strength and agility.

As a result, the role required a lot of training for Poulter to prepare for Marvel. He recently opened up about it, while sharing a warning about attempting such an intense transformation.

Speaking to The Independent, Poulter revealed: “The most important thing is that your mental and physical health must come first, and aesthetic goals must come second, or you end up promoting something unhealthy and unrealistic if you don’t. I don’t have the financial backing of a studio that pays for your meals and training.

He also added that he “wouldn’t recommend” anyone attempt the transformation he underwent for the role.

Despite his warning, Poulter provided some insight into what it takes to become a superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including lots of gym time and a very specific diet. He has also been unable to drink alcohol since New Year’s Eve.

“The whole social aspect of your life has to take a back seat,” Poulter continued. “I’m in such a rigid routine that being able to go out to dinner with friends isn’t something I’ve been able to do. I can’t wait to be able to again.”

Filming began on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 in November 2021 and the film is slated for release in May 2023. Here’s our guide to keeping you up to date with all the upcoming Marvel Phase 4 releases underway as well as how to watch the Marvel movies in order.
